What does the F12a sign mean?
The F12a sign marks the start of a residential or shared zone. From there special rules apply: pedestrians may use the full width of the road and the speed limit is 20 km/h.
Information signs: what you need to know
Information signs are rectangular and give information: a diversion, a dead end, the end of roadworks. At roadworks they point out the detour and close off the works zone.
Do you need a permit?
Anyone who puts up a traffic sign on the public road for works needs the consent of the road authority: through the occupation permit or through a signage permit with a signage plan. Without that consent you may not put up the sign.
