Signage Plan
As soon as your construction site encroaches on the carriageway, the municipality or regional authority will ask you to submit a plan with your application. We will draw this up in accordance with the highway code and Standaardbestek 250, submit it, and then supply the signs specified therein.
Rule of thumb: if your project affects road traffic, the road authority will want to see in writing exactly how you’ll manage that. In such cases, they almost always ask for a plan.
From a half-day tap installation to roadworks lasting weeks: whenever through traffic needs to be diverted, the carriageway narrowed or traffic controlled on an alternating basis, a plan is required.
Where a cycle path or footpath is interrupted, a safe alternative must be provided. The road authority wants to know where vulnerable road users can go and how they are guided there.
Many towns and municipalities require a signage plan to be submitted with every application from a contractor, even if you’re only occupying a parking lane. Not sure? Let us know which municipality is involved, and we’ll look into it.
For a regional road, the application is processed via the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer. They will not consider any application without a plan, and the requirements are stricter than for a municipal road.

Are you a private individual?
Are you only using a parking lane for a house move, a delivery or a skip? In that case, you generally do not need a signage plan. You can rent the signs from the online shop and apply for a permit yourself from your municipality.
