What does the D11 sign mean?
The D11 sign marks the route pedestrians must follow. At roadworks it marks a temporary footpath, for example a protected walkway alongside scaffolding.
Mandatory signs: what you need to know
Mandatory signs are round and blue. They impose an obligation: follow a direction, use a cycle path or a footpath. On a worksite they guide traffic around an obstacle or towards a temporary passage.
Do you need a permit?
Anyone who puts up a traffic sign on the public road for works needs the consent of the road authority: through the occupation permit or through a signage permit with a signage plan. Without that consent you may not put up the sign.
