Traffic sign C11: No cycling

The C11 sign forbids access to cyclists. At roadworks it closes a cycle path or cycle street; add a cyclist diversion (F41) so they know which way to go instead.

Prohibitory signs are round with a red border. They forbid something: a direction, access, overtaking, driving faster than a set speed. At roadworks they close a street or a footpath, or limit the speed along the site.

Anyone who puts up a traffic sign on the public road for works needs the consent of the road authority: through the occupation permit or through a signage permit with a signage plan. Without that consent you may not put up the sign.
