What does the B5 sign mean?
The B5 sign requires the driver to stop and give way. At roadworks it appears where a temporary exit or a diverted side street joins a busy road.
Priority signs: what you need to know
Priority signs decide who goes first. At roadworks they mostly appear where the carriageway is reduced to a single lane: B19 on one side, B21 on the other, so both directions know who has right of way.
Do you need a permit?
Anyone who puts up a traffic sign on the public road for works needs the consent of the road authority: through the occupation permit or through a signage permit with a signage plan. Without that consent you may not put up the sign.
